- Narendra Modi inaugurated the Aerospace on 13 February, 2023: Aero India 2023, Asia’s largest air show, is scheduled from 13-17 February, 2023, in Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru. It is Asia’s largest aeronautical show, and the theme for this year is ‘The Runway to Billion Opportunities’. Approximately 809 companies and 98 countries will participate in this event. The event proceedings include an aerial display by airports and helicopters and an exhibition of aerospace and defense companies.

- You can sport an Apple watch with a bigger display by 2024: The Apple Watch will include a built-in camera as well as a band system, allowing users to take photos faster than ever before. As per reports, Apple received the patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The patent is named ‘Apple Watch with a Release Mechanism’.

- Paytm introduces a QR code with a G20 theme: To honour India’s presidency in the G2O theme and the nation’s dominance in mobile, One97 Communications Limited, the owner of top payments and financial services startup Paytm, revealed a special G20 themed QR code. The working group will assist in the creation of models across the developing ecosystems. The bank is among the top 10 remittance banks for UPI transactions, with 389.61 million recorded transactions, according to the most recent NPCI statistics.

- UGC-NET Examination slips for the December session 2022 will be available on the website from 13 February, 2023: The examination is scheduled from 21 February 2023–10 March 2023. One can access the examination slip from the official website. Even the admission card will be available on the website shortly. However, only eligible candidates who complete the application process will be issued an admit card.

- Real Madrid wins the FIFA Club World Cup: Real Madrid has broken all records by winning its fifth World Cup this year after beating Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal. The match was held in Rabat, Morocco, and the final score was 5–3. The Fédération Internationale de Football Association has been hosting the FIFA Club World Cup since 2000 as an international men’s association football competition.

- One hundred and eighty students from Tamil Nadu visited the ISRO spaceport: The students of Queen Mira International School (QMIS), Madhurai, conducted an educational tour to ISRO’s (Indian Space Research Organisation) Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on 13 February 2023. This was a part of their social initiative to familiarise disadvantaged students with the opportunity to understand space technology.

ENVIRONMENT
- Is Joshimath, a Himalayan town in India, really sinking? This was first experienced on 3 January 2023, by Digambar Singh Bisht. He and his family of five experienced their house shaking, and they spent the night on the streets. The local administration moved the family to a room in the Joshimath Municipality building. According to officials, the land is sinking, and this is one of 860 unsafe houses. Around 240 families have been relocated, while many other families fled out of fear.

ARCHAEOLOGY
- Dive deeper into the world of archaeology with Minecraft: Minecraft is a gaming website that allows users to embark on brand new gaming adventures. After a two-year delay, its archaeology feature is being launched in Minecraft’s next major update. The experience involves budding archaeologists digging in deserts, but with time, Mojang Studios and the developers plan on adding more dig sites. The 1.20 feature is all set to release, but the tentative date is beyond 2023.

Balochistan, Pakistan’s most attractive stadium ever: As per the picture that is doing the rounds on Twitter on13 February 2023, this cricket stadium is surrounded by towering cliffs. But AFWA (Air Force Weather Agency) states that it’s not real. After assessing the picture using Google Lens, the image was redirected to a website for ‘Modern Green Structures and Architecture’ with the title ‘Prem Nath-Prem Nath & Associates’. In this image, the cliffs are missing.

SCIENCE & MEDICINE
- Newly discovered antitumour to fight against malaria: Scientists from JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) discovered a means to combat malaria by targeting the host lipids with an antitumour drug. Malaria is caused by a parasite. The research led by Prof. Shailaja Singh at the Special Centre for Molecular Medicine at JNU stated that the antitumour drug depletes the source of the parasite, which ultimately causes its death.
