Common Admission Test 2016
Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national level exam that is held to shortlist aspirants all over the country for admission in business administration at the level of Postgraduate. The CAT aspirants can also find the eligibility criteria and exam dates on the notifications provided. This is a golden opportunity and aspirants who want to build their future in MBA.
This exam is an all-India national test based on computer, conducted by IIMs for admission to management programs. The CAT exam is held by 19 IIMs and the admission in colleges are completely based on merit list in the exam.

Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Calcutta, Bodh Gaya, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Kashipur, Indore, Bangalore, Nagpur, Raipur, Rohtak, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Shillong, Sirmaur, Tiruchirapalli, Visakhapatnam and Udaipur
CAT Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate has to have a bachelor degree in any branch from well-established and recognized University.
- The aspirant must have secured 50% mark in qualifying examination but the score can be 45% in case of SC/ST.
- All the final year’s students can also register for this test.
CAT Admission Process
Please note that every IIM shortlists candidates for second stage of selection that can be independent of each other. This process can involve Written Ability Test, Personal interview and Group discussions.
IIMs may use previous academic scores, work experience and other relevant inputs in ranking and selection of aspirants at different levels of admission process. The process and marks cut-offs allocated to the evaluation parameters may differ for different IIMs. You can refer the admission policies of IIMs from their official websites for more information.
CAT Registration Fee
The registration fee for OBC and general candidates is Rs 1600/.
The registration fee for SC/ST and physically disabled is Rs 800/.
CAT Exam Pattern 2016
The CAT 2016 Exam Pattern has two sections. CAT is an objective type of test that includes a suitable negative marking for every incorrect answer.

According to the Indian government, there is reservation in IIM seats for different categories. 15% of seats are reserved for SC and 7.5% for ST and 27% of seats for OBC candidates that belong to non-creamy layer (NC-OBC) according to the requirements of the Government. The candidates need to specify its category in the application form and submit category certificate at the time of admission.
