As countries around the globe battle with conflict, strife and misery, one often wistfully wishes for peace. On the occasion of World Peace Day, let's discover the world’s most peaceful nations as per the Global Peace Index 2023.

Iceland

It tops the list because it has no army, navy or air force. To guard itself, there are just three offshore patrol vessels. It stands in the first position with a score of 1.107.

New Zealand

The nation has a sound economic system, and the bureaucrats govern with an emphasis on a peaceful culture and champion values, equality and diversity. Its score is 1.253.

Its top-notch security eliminates the need for a police force. Besides that, it is uncommon to hear of internal conflicts, and it maintains harmonious relationships with neighbouring countries. The score is 1.288.
