Here are a few famous scientists who celebrated their birthday this month!

Adolf Windaus

Born: 25th, December 1876

Profession: Organic Chemist

Honours: Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Known for: His notable research on substances like vitamin D that play an important biological role

Upendranath Brahmachari

Born: 19th December, 1873

Profession: A scientist and a prominent medical practitioner

Honours: Kaisar-i-Hind Medal, Knight Bachelor

Known for: His discovery of Urea Stibamine, an organic antimonial compound which played a vital role in the treatment of black fever

Srinivasa Ramanujan

Born: 22nd December, 1887

Profession: Mathematician

Honours: Fellow of the Royal Society

Known for: His contribution in analytical Theory of Numbers, on elliptic functions, continued fractions, and infinite series. He also formulated his own mathematics, summing geometric and arithmetic series.

Annie Jump Cannon

Born: 11th December, 1863

Profession: Astronomer

Honours: Henry Draper Medal, Ellen Richards Prize

Known for: Her contribution to modern astronomy in the field of stellar spectral classification

George Davis Snell

Born: 19th December, 1903

Profession: geneticist and basic transplant immunologist.

Honours: Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, Wolf Prize in Medicine, Gairdner Foundation International Award, Natural Sciences, US & Canada

Known for:  His contribution in the field of medicine, mouse genetics and genetics of transplantation.
