“Learning is fun and easy when one plans out properly. It helps in building self-confidence too.”

Meet 11 year old Laina Lakshita, who believes in self-learning and inspires the same zeal in others. A class topper and math lover, Laina shares the secret behind her extreme calmness and how it helps her handle any situation. A gifted Bharatanatyam dancer with a knack for creating something new, she loves to meditate before opening her books.

An aspiration:

6th grader Laina has always seen her father as the role model, who works for the betterment of the society. Thus she dreams of becoming a scientist and work towards eradicating illiteracy and poverty.

Born in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa, Laina and her family has been on constant move within the country as per her father’s posting.  “My dad works in Indian Air Force and thanks to him that I have been to so many places and made new friends.” Currently, her father is posted in Delhi where Laina attends Air Force Bal Bharati School.

Laina’s mother adds, “Our constant travel has never affected Laina’s studies. She takes this whole ‘change of school’ as a part of her own adventurous journey. In fact, these frequent shifting of places and meeting new people and culture has helped shape her personality and develop a ‘never give up’ attitude within her. Even with her studies, she thinks practically and plans out her daily route in a systematic manner.

Her trick to stay focused:

Laina is very sincere when it comes to studies and ensures that no external changes hamper her daily set timetable. Since her school changes frequently, she sticks by the timetable as it helps her follow a schedule.

Being a teacher myself, I understand that last minute studies never work out. Thus, I ensure to chart out a timetable for her every month with the aid of BYJU’S app. Since we change cities frequently, Laina completely depends on the learning app and my coaching for her studies,” says her mother.

Tips from the topper:

Students often get stressed during exam time. It is mostly due to unplanned study schedules. To solve this problem, Laina shares an easy remedy which is quite adaptive:

Constant revision is the key to remember and recall the concepts as well as understand any complex topics easily. My day begins at 6.00 a.m. where I meditate for half an hour as it helps me to concentrate 100% at studies. Before heading to school, a quick scan of the previous day’s lesson helps me to keep the content fresh in mind. That way, I can easily follow what the teacher teaches at school.”

Laina further reassures that, “Exams are there only to test the memory power at a given point. But one can’t just memorise without having a clear understanding of the concepts. So I rather keep my concepts crystal clear instead of just parroting it. Here, BYJU’S is a big help in keeping my Math and Science concepts clear. I don’t need an extra tuition because of it.”

The precise use of BYJU’S Learning App

I got to know about the BYJU’S app from my friends and asked my parents to buy me the 5th grade course.  The short videos were very engrossing and helped me understand the concepts very easily. The tests and games were super interesting. Learning from BYJU’S helped me score 80/80 in Math and Science last year. In fact, for my 6th std, I asked my dad to buy me the BYJU’S app before buying the books. Also, a big thank you to my mentor Monika ma’am whose constant support and encouragement has helped me do my best,” smiles Laina.
