A New Year! A New Adventure!

Hobbies are a great way to learn something new, hike your knowledge graph and find your creative edge amidst a lot of fun!

This year, let’s make a habit of exploring interesting hobbies like – collecting unique coin, playing a musical instrument, swimming, gardening or even model building with Lego!t

The best way to cultivate a hobby is to try out one. So here is something to get you started.

Begin this year by entering into a Bookish Adventure! (apart from reading your school textbooks, of course!)

There is nothing better than the company of a good book. It takes you places, lets you travel through time and space and gives you the experience of becoming the protagonist in every story that you read! (Isn’t that cool?) Above all, it cultivates your personality and boosts your confidence by offering you the wealth of information that even Google can’t precisely offer.

Where to begin?

You can start from anywhere – be it short stories, novels, graphics & illustrations, sci-fi, historical romance, biographies or even mysteries.

Here is a list of books to help you jump-start and become a voracious reader:

Books by Indian writers Books by writers from around the world
  • Malgudi Days  – RK Narayan
  • Amar Chitra Katha – Anant Pai
  • Granny’s Sari – Asha Nehemiah
  • The Palace of Illusion – Chitra Banerjee
  • Short Stories – Munchi Premchand

  • The Da Vinci Code – Dan Brown
  • Adventures of Huckleberry Finn – Mark Twain

While you are all grooved up to make your own list of books to read, you might also want to look at the other side of the coin…writing! You can begin by scribbling short notes on book reviews or your favorite characters. Make this a habit and before you know it, you may find yourself becoming a great writer.

Reading as a hobby is not something you can develop in a day. It takes a lot of patience and concentration. So take your time, start with one book a month and enjoy the pure bliss of flipping through new adventures! Don’t forget to tell us which one is your favourite.

Happy Reading 🙂
