Fun Things to Do as a Family to Make Lasting Memories

Team StoryWeavers|February 16, 2023, 17:40 IST|

We all love spending time with our parents and siblings. It makes us feel closer to them and helps us make memories that will last a lifetime. To celebrate this, today, we will cover some fun things that you can do at home with your family.

Are you ready to have fun? Let’s go!

  • Make a mug cake: Cooking together as a family can be a wonderful experience – a rewarding one too as you are cooking something delicious. So, how about making an easy-to-make mug cake? Does that sound yummy? Each family member can make their favourite cake, reducing the likelihood of arguments and making family time more enjoyable. Since every family member gets to make a cake that they want, it will reduce the likelihood of arguments between siblings and make the family time even more enjoyable.

  • Go through the family album: Going through old family albums can be a wonderful way to tell children about the family history and traditions. It will also provide parents with an opportunity to share their stories and lessons that they have learnt along the way. It is fun and educational at the same time. What more could you want from family time!

  • Gardening or tending to plants: If you have plants at home, you can tell your child interesting things about particular plants, including their usage, water and sunlight requirements, etc. It can help the child see that all plants are not the same, and they will also get to see their parents passionate about something. It may encourage them to explore their passions and interests. You could also ask the child to pick a plant to tend for the rest of the week and see how it goes. Parents should definitely get the children to water plants. Regardless of it sounding like a chore, children will surely love an excuse to play in water and soil.

  • Do family portraits with a twist: Get every family member to do a family portrait where they draw all the members of the family in as much detail as possible. You can also add a twist that each family member must be drawn in a way that highlights their strengths. For example, a family member who is good at listening can be drawn with larger than usual ears. Do ensure that the rules are clear and only positives are highlighted.

  • Have a memorable photoshoot: Taking photos and selfies has increased over the years. However, very rarely do we take mindful photos that truly capture the essence of family time. Here’s your chance! Gather all the family members and decide to do a photoshoot at home. Each member can dress up in their favourite clothes and show off their favourite toys or other belongings in an exceptional way. You can get these photos printed and write a few lines describing why these belongings are so special. Conclude the photoshoot with a family photo.

It is possible that these activities may not go as planned and need to be tweaked as per the situational demands. Don’t fret and carry on. What’s important is that you are spending time with your family and making new memories.
