Jane’s Journal – Dinosaur In Electropolis

Dear Diary,

We met Kiki in Electropolis and guess what? She showed us a dinosaur skeleton. Needless to say, it was huge and Jax was scared. But, we learnt a lot of things about dinosaurs. Here are some facts for you that I picked from the book that Kiki showed us:

  • Dinosaurs had an impressive size. Some were bigger than giraffes and elephants. A few of them could even fly!
  • It is believed that dinosaurs lived on Earth until around 65 million years ago, until a mass extinction event occurred.
  • Scientists believe that the event that led to the extinction may have been a massive asteroid impact or a huge volcanic activity.
  • A person who studies dinosaurs is known as a paleontologist.
  • The first dinosaur to be formally named was the Megalosaurus, back in 1824.
  • Some dinosaurs were carnivores – meat-eaters, while others were herbivores – plant-eaters.
  • The largest dinosaurs such as the Brachiosaurus and Apatosaurus were actually herbivores.

Dinosaurs were fascinating creatures but I am glad that we don’t live around them. Phew!
