4 offbeat Indian festivals that you should know!

Did you know, every year during the festive season of Onam, special guests visit the Swaraj Ground in Thrissur (Kerala)? 

Those special guests are tigers! 

Don’t panic! They aren’t real tigers. But artists, who have the big cat’s face painted on their bodies and stripes on their limbs in yellow, red, and black. They dance and enact popular traditional plays during the 10-day celebration. This folk art is known as Puli Kali (‘Puli’ refers to a leopard or a tiger, and ‘Kali’ means ‘to play’ in the Malayalam language).
