Do you know that football is just mathematics in disguise?
Think about it – every ground pass follows the path of a curved or straight line; a panenka is nothing but a parabola in slow motion, and tiki-taka can literally be called ‘the dance of the polygons’! Even a football ground is a geometry lesson, with its white markers creating figures of various shapes and sizes, such as the penalty box, corner area, and others.
Now that we know how football and math are connected in more ways than one, we at BYJU’S have decided to add one more to the list! To celebrate the FIFA World Cup season, BYJU’S has launched an exciting online game called Math Cup, where students like you can score both on and off the field, and win prizes along the way!
That’s right – learning mathematics is no longer restricted to classes and tuition. You can now brush up your math skills with the help of the beautiful game as well!
The training module in the game has five levels: Beginner, Amateur, Professional, World Class and Legendary. The only way to go up every level is by answering math questions correctly and gaining points and skills along the way. This ensures that both your mathematical and football abilities are in place!
These skills will, in turn, allow you to enhance your team’s strength, and as you keep winning matches with fellow students, your rank on the leaderboard will increase. So, do not forget to keep track of your scores every day!
The competition has two seasons, one in the month of November and one in December. For Season 1, the leaderboard will be live from November 8, 2022, to December 3, 2022, and for Season 2, from December 4, 2022, to December 31, 2022. These dates may be subject to change; all such updates will be noted in the Official Rules.
