Welcome to BYJU’S Sunday Challenge, the weekly quiz. In this edition we explore the a cultural aspect that surrounds us in the modern world. Let’s take a quiz on the wonderful world of logos.

This was originally designed in the 1950s by Gerald Holtom as the logo for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, which is why it was also referred to as the CND sign. What is it more popularly known as around the world?

The name of this company when translated from Korean means ‘three stars,’ which was also aptly represented in their old logo (see picture below). Which company is this?

This is the flag of Bavaria. The logo of which iconic German automotive company is inspired by the colours of this flag?

Between the 2007 – 2010 Formula 1 seasons, Ferrari did something strange with a logo on its F1 car. Instead of flaunting one of it most prominent sponsor’s logos, all they had was a red and white bar code. Why did Ferrari have this bar code and which company’s logo did it replace?

 

Answers to Sunday Challenge 30

1. Triskaidekaphobia is the fear of the number 13, which is considered unlucky in many cultures.

2. One. The hero of the Matrix series is Neo whose name is an anagram for the ‘One,’ which is also his alter ego in the iconic films.

3. Hat-trick. The fans bought Stephenson a hat for taking three wickets in a row which is why a series of three wickets in cricket or three goals in football is called a hat-trick.

4. Zero. Gilbert Arenas played the jersey number zero for the Washington Wizards. Warren Mendonsa’s band was called Zero and the period in parliament after Question Hour is called Zero Hour.

5. Eight. Cephalopods like octopuses have eight legs. The Buddhist dharmachakra has eight spokes that represent the Eight Fold Path of Mahayana Buddhism. A valence shell can hold a maximum of eight electrons.

Bonus answer: Fibonacci Sequence. The numbers in the above answer (0, 1, 3, 8 and 13) are all Fibonacci numbers. The Fibonacci sequence is a series that is obtained by adding the two previous numbers two obtain the next one. It goes like this: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34… and onwards.
