Who is Teena Sojan?
An 11th grader, Teena is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, a marathon runner and an occasional painter. Juggling with her studies and hobbies, Teena aced her 10th boards scoring 92% with the help of BYJU’S – The Learning App. Read her story where she shares some quick tips on how to prepare for exams.
A young heart with a big dream!
With parents from education and engineering backgrounds, Teena grew up reading a lot of G.K and Space Encyclopaedia books.
“She was always fascinated by the bright pictures and information about space printed on the encyclopaedia books,” quotes her father, an engineer with an interest in study of space.
By the time she reached 8th grade, she realised where her interest lies and decided on her future career path.
“I want to become a scientist and join ISRO one day. I have already started my preparation to reach my goals and have planned my road map too –
Complete 12th with good marks → clear IIT mains → get a good score to be part of the IIST rank list → get a good CGPA to be selected for ISRO
Teena explains how she prepared her study plan!
With a little help from her mother, Teena charted out a study plan for her board exams after her 9th grade midterm. She states, “One cannot prepare for any exam within a week or in a month’s time and hope to score high marks. To score well, one needs to design a timetable and follow it.”
Teena shares her study plan which helped her score well:
» Plan out and identify the subjects/topics which require extra attention.
» Chart out a time table that includes at least half an hour for each of those tough subjects/topics.
» Make sure to study two new topics every day and make notes of your own. I study math and science from BYJU’S – The Learning app.
» Don’t procrastinate! Instead, study from day one. Try to understand concepts instead of memorizing them.
» Stay ahead in the race – take up weekly tests and quizzes. BYJU’S app comes with a lot of mock papers, concept wise tests and activities which helps in keeping the content fresh.
» Revise what you had studied a day before and then revise the same topic again after a week’s time. That way, all the content will remain fresh in mind.
» Most importantly, stay positive and stay focused. Don’t study just for marks. Instead, enjoy what you study.
The BYJU’S App – adding colours to her scientist dreams
A student of Nirmala Convent High School, Satara, Teena came across the interesting ad of Shahrukh Khan about BYJU’S App and got curious to know more about it.
Her mother Mrs. Shally Sajan recalls, “Initially we were unsure about the benefits of studying using technology. But after some time, we were very pleased, when we saw Teena’s growing interest in studies and how the app was helping her understand clearly. She has been using the BYJU’S App since her 9th grade and it has been helping her in many ways. She charts out her own timetable, prepares her lessons without our help and can study at anytime of the day. The best part is the rich use of videos, animations and engaging games by the app, which sometimes enthralls us as well.”
Teena adds in, “I loved the fact that through my BYJU’S App, I can go through the concepts at any time, watch video lessons on repeat and even clarify doubts from my mentor Vivek sir whenever I wanted.”
We asked about her favourite teacher from BYJU’S App and she jumped up whooping with happiness.
“Divya Ma’am! I love the way she teaches. The videos are so real that I feel she is standing in front of me and explaining biology concepts in person. With such an amazing opportunity to learn from such teachers and getting sufficient backup with test papers and quizzes to timely follow ups, I am certain about achieving my dreams soon,” smiles broadly.
We wish Teena a bright future and thank her mentor for the constant moral support 🙂
