Follow us on,

Everyone prefers different genres of movies to binge on. Some love rom-coms, others action and some are fans of sci-fi. But, almost everyone loves movies that are based on friendship.   They are light-hearted with just the right amount of drama and always leave your heart feeling like a warm cup of coffee on a cold winter morning.

As Friendship Day nears us, we have put together the perfect watchlist of movies for you and your friends to enjoy this weekend.

Karwaan

Do you know those movies that leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling at the end? Karwaan is exactly that! This is a film that takes the route of a road trip between two friends who stumble upon an opinionated and liberal college student. It captures the journey of these three characters as they cross paths with different people, form new friendships and rekindle some old ones.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

There’s something about this film that one cannot watch just once. It makes for a perfect weekend watch with all its drama, humor and great music. YJHD is very relatable regarding how even though college friendships fizzle out over time when close friends meet after forever, it’s like nothing has changed.

Rang De Basanti

Rang De Basanti is a movie that transports you back to your fun college days and makes you miss your college friends instantly. It not only brings to life the different characters in any friend group in an authentic and relatable manner but also portrays the youth of India awakening to the realities of our country. This film is a great one to watch with your friends with its light-hearted first half and inspirational second half.

Perks Of Being A Wallflower

One of the most beautiful movies ever made, this one focuses on how friendships can act as a means of emotional support through difficult periods of life. It takes you on a fun yet emotional ride, featuring Charlie, a socially awkward boy who makes friends that give him something he had been looking for all along – a sense of belonging.

Bangalore Days

Bangalore Days is a film that is going to make you miss the love and laughter you share with your cousins. The movie revolves around three cousins who move to Bangalore and take different paths to fulfill their dreams. The movie revolves around their lives in a new city and how they adapt to it.

Hachiko

If you haven’t already watched this movie, you need to right away! This film shows the true meaning of friendship and loyalty. After all, dogs are called a man’s best friend for a reason. Also, we’re warning you now that there isn’t a single living soul who has reached the end of the movie dry-eyed. Pro tip: Pre-order your tissues.

Shawshank Redemption

What is it that beautifully brings together the narrative of this classic and evergreen film? Friendship and hope. It’s a tale of two men who form a bond of friendship in uniquely horrific situations. What unfolds is something awe-inspiring that needs to be experienced not just read about.

Happy Days

Happy Days is a light-hearted, coming-of-age movie that will make you reminisce about your college days. Set in an engineering college, focused on a group of seven friends, the film shows the evolution of friendship, love, sacrifices, and betrayal, leaving you feeling nostalgic.

Munna Bhai M.B.B.S

Using hilarity, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S depicts a loyal friendship between Munna Bhai and Circuit. The nuances of this offbeat friendship with its many aww moments tugged at our heartstrings. With funny yet cute dialogues like “Bhai ne bol diya, toh bol diya” the film will certainly take you on a laughter riot.

Good Will Hunting

Good Will Hunting is a heartwarming and inspirational watch that features 20-year-old Will, a natural genius who works as a janitor at a reputed educational institution. Lambeau, a professor, spots him and pushes him to work harder and hone his talent. This unconventional friendship is the kind we all need in our lives to be the best version of ourselves.

Hope you liked the weekend watchlist. Do let us know in the comments which of these movies you have watched and your own recommendations to add to it.
