The event was a captivating experience for the volunteers and children. While they were aware of paper recycling, they lacked knowledge of the process. Their enthusiasm peaked when they discovered how effortlessly they could create paper bags themselves. Within a mere 10 minutes, the bags were ready, and we volunteers learned alongside them.
Following this, they unleashed their creativity by painting the bags in their chosen colours and designs. Eagerly, they anticipated sharing their newfound skills with their families, siblings, and friends once they returned home. Furthermore, as a teacher, I took the opportunity to shed light on the harmful effects of plastic on our environment. I encouraged the children to transition to steel water bottles, acknowledging and commending those who were already using them. In addition to adopting paper bags, they enthusiastically committed to embracing steel bottles and other eco-friendly alternatives, recognising the minimal effort required for a significant positive impact.
